Predicted Bolide in Northern Sudan

Submitted by tricaric on Mon, 10/06/2008 - 19:50.

This is just to give you a heads up. A very small asteroid (diameter less than 5 meters) is expected to enter into Earth's atmosphere in the area of northern Sudan around 2008 Oct 07 0246 UTC. Given its size, the object is not expected to reach the ground, and as such does not pose any threat.

Sky Coverage Data Released by the MPC

Submitted by tricaric on Sun, 08/24/2008 - 12:01.

The Minor Planet Center has released today the data relative to the sky coverage of many of the NEOs surveys. This is very good news, as we get one step closer to applying the results of our research to real telescopes. Please join us in a big Thank You to all the people who made this possible, including the MPC team and all the Astronomers involved with the NEOs surveys.

Submitted by tricaric on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 21:59.

The 5K users, 10K hosts mark should be reached within days, maybe just hours from now. Having so many users (and hosts) believing into this project is a great privilege and an important motivator, and we thank YOU all.
