Pasquale Tricarico, Ph.D.

Senior Scientist
Planetary Science Institute

Bio

Pasquale Tricarico is a Senior Scientist at the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona. He specializes in the study of the dynamics of bodies in the solar system. His main projects are related to the development of a comprehensive software library for celestial mechanics investigations, and its application to the characterization of the near-Earth asteroids population. Pasquale is also contributing actively to the Dawn mission as a Participating Scientist, where in particular he is studying the gravity data of asteroid Vesta to determine the characteristics of its interior structure. Other active research topics include the dynamical characterization of multiple asteroid systems, the dynamics of dust grains, and thermal modeling of asteroids.

Pasquale received his Laurea degree from Ferrara University, Italy in 2000, and then his Ph.D. from Padova University, Italy in 2003. He then moved to the Physics and Astronomy Department of the Washington State University in Pullman, WA for two years, where he worked as a post-Doctoral Research Associate. In 2005 he moved to Tucson to join the Planetary Science Institute first as an Associate Research Scientist, then as a Research Scientist between 2010 and 2013, and as a Senior Scientist since 2013.
